Courier Mail
- Broadsheet until 2005, than a tabloid.
- First Published as the Moreton Bay Courier in 1846; also known as The
Courier and the Brisbane Courier before merging with its weekday morning
competitor, The Mail, in 1933 to become the Courier Mail.

- Always Queensland’s most popular newspaper, the Courier Mail, is less
conservative than its broadsheet format suggests.
- In line with newspaper publishing trends, it replaced classifieds with
news on its front page in February1938 and the inclusion of specialist
supplements and entertainment became more prevalent the latter half of the
century.
- After the closure of the Brisbane Telegraph in the late 80s, the Courier
Mail became Brisbane’s only major newspaper. While retaining it’s trusted
broadsheet size, it’s content could be described as a unique hybrid of
conservative and sensational styles that services both ends of the newspaper
market.
- During the 1990s, the introduction of colour printing added a new
dimension to the newspaper, as did the addition of a range of lifestyle
supplements and magazines.
